Back to Our Roots: An Exploration of Roots Music will be a discussion on the historical intersections of jazz, blues, and roots music and the influence of race, emancipation, and desegregation on the evolution of this music. The program will feature Grammy Award-winning musician Dom Flemons, a chronicler of roots music and founding member of the Carolina Chocolate Drops. Other panelists include Dr. Harold Aldridge, an inductee of the Oklahoma Blues Hall of Fame, and Johnny Baier, Executive Director of the American Banjo Museum. The event will feature performances by the three panelists along with a discussion of the influence of African American history on American music.

This event is free and open to the public.
