About Mary Frances Berry

Dr. Mary Frances Berry served as assistant secretary in the Department of Health, Education, and Welfare during the Carter Administration, and led the Civil Rights Commission under President Bill Clinton. She is currently a professor at the University of Pennsylvania. She has authored nine books, including And Justice for All: The United States Commission on Civil Rights and the Continuing Struggle for Freedom in America (Knopf, 2009).
