The 38th Annual Symposium on the American Indian will center on current tribal initiatives with the theme of “Oklahoma Fancy Dance.” The symposium will highlight innovations, developments, and advances by Oklahoma tribes. Discussion will include the current issues of sovereignty and sustainability in the tribal contexts of economics, the environment, the arts, and the humanities. The history of fancy dance in Oklahoma Native culture will highlight the weeklong activities, which include a film series, lectures, presentations, and the annual NSU Powwow.
