Creating greater cultural awareness and sensitivity in the classroom is paramount to fostering a safe, equitable learning environment for Oklahoma students. With the “browning” of America, as some research contends, educators are challenged to create a learning environment that recognizes the historical significance of the ancestry of all students. Teachers will explore Black Wall Street/Tulsa Race Riots and the growing Latino population in Oklahoma.
