Northeastern State University -- Broken Arrow
3100 New Orleans St.
Broken Arrow, OK 74014
A panel discussion and Q&A will be held featuring some of the city's oldest residents discussing the history of work in Broken Arrow. This program is held in conjunction with the Smithsonian Institution's Museum on Main Street exhibit The Way We Worked, which is on display at the Broken Arrow Historical Society Museum through July 7, 2017.
The exhibit traces the many changes that have affected the workforce and work environments over the past 150 years. The Way We Worked uses videos, photos, interactive materials, and artifacts to tell the story of the impact of work on American culture.
The Way We Worked has been adapted from an original exhibition developed by the National Archives. The five Oklahoma host sites for this exhibit will also feature complementary programs and exhibits that highlight the history of work in their own hometowns. Following the exhibit's debut in Perry, it travels to Grove, Broken Arrow, Waurika, and Poteau through November 2017. The exhibit and panel discussion are free and open to all ages.
