Event Details
Charlie Adams Day is an annual event that celebrates the unique cultural heritage and individual stories of the residents of Newkirk, Oklahoma. Newkirk Community Historical Society presents educational and entertaining living history performances that introduce the community to historical figures who helped shape Newkirk's early days. This year's characters include:
- Lavern Shinn Horner, early day teacher, portrayed by Kim Shanks
- Emma Stalhut Coleman, independent teacher, portrayed by Crystal Layton
- I.D. Ross, early lawyer, portrayed by Phil Ross
- Kaw Language Youth Performance “Taje’ Sage”
- Sonny Holloway, of Holloway Dozer, Naval Seebee and Kanza tribal elder, portrayed by Andy Colclasure
- Lincoln McKinley, newspaper editor and early president of the Oklahoma Historical Society, portrayed by Bob Rodgers
Other events include a BBQ cook-off, car show, local crafts, turtle races, fun run, and more!
