Foundlings to the Frontier - Hinton

Event Details

The story of the Orphan Trains concerns the largest migration of children from the overcrowded east to the developing heartland, from rejection to assimilation in the fabric of the American Dream.  Between 1854 and 1929, over 250,000 orphans and unwanted children were sent out of New York on trains to find new homes in every state in the continental U.S.  This program combines live music, storytelling, video interviews with archival photographs, audience discussion and spontaneous oral histories from the audience.
