Route 66 Road Fest Presentation Stage

Event Details

With the most drivable miles of any of the eight states the Mother Road passes through, Oklahoma's historical conncestion to Route 66 is undeniable.  The Route's importance to the state, and the communities it traversed, transcends the obvious economic and cultural elements.  Route 66 put Oklahoma on the radar of those who traveled to the West Coast from the Eastern and Midwestern United States, as well as international travelers, all of whom continue to drive the Route today.  The scholars who will take part in the Road Fest's presentations will speak to a spectrum of concepts including, but not limited to, what the Route brought to Oklahoma, what Oklahoma brought to the Route, the experience of those who traveled the Mother Road (including Black drivers during the Green Book era), and how the resurgence of the Route's communities affect the state today and in the future.  The Road Fest is a project of Route 66 Alliance.
