The 22nd annual Thatcher Hoffman Smith Poetry Series at OCU is proud to bring celebrated poet Ellen Bass to Oklahoma City. Ellen Bass grew up on the east coast and now resides in Santa Cruz, California. She studied writing at Goucher College and Boston University. A Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets, she has received many awards and recognitions for her work, including and a finalist designation for the Paterson Poetry Prize, The Publishers Triangle Award, The Milt Kessler Poetry Award, the Lambda Literary Award, and the Northern California Book Award. She is the author of eight poetry collections, including recent titles Like a Beggar and The Human Line published by the Copper Canyon Press. She’ll have a new book forthcoming in late spring of 2020.
