Oklahoma Humanities American Rescue Plan COVID Relief Funding Now Available!

 

Oklahoma Humanities is offering general operating support grants for nonprofit humanities-based organizations in Oklahoma impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Awards are designated for operational expenses, including but not limited to staff retention (salaries and benefits), rent or mortgage, utilizes, and supplies.  The application will open June 1, and run through July 1, or until funds are expended.  Applications will be reviewed by a committee of OH Board of Trustees in late July (see the Evaluation Score Sheet).   Award notification will be by September 1, 2021.

OH will host American Rescue Plan (ARP) Grant information sessions on June 7 and June 11, 2021. Interested applicants may register for one of the grants info sessions above.

OH especially encourages applications from minority-serving institutions and organizations as well as from rural and underserved areas of the state, but applications are welcome regardless of an organizations size, audience, or location. No cost share is required for Oklahoma ARP Grants.

Award Levels: Oklahoma ARP Grant requests are intended to reach a diverse network of urban, rural, small, medium, and large sized organizations serving a myriad of important constituencies statewide.  To process these requests efficiently, effectively, and equitably, the grant request have been limited to a maximum of $15,000. Please only apply for what your organization can justify in the budget narrative.

Note: OH reserves the right to award grants that are less than the maximum amount requested.

Criteria:

All Oklahoma ARP Grant applications will be subject to the same review process based on the following criteria:

  • All applicants must submit their federal tax identification/EIN number and DUNS number.  Nonprofits must submit copies of their IRS determination letter. (Note: 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status organizations, public-facing organizations operating within accredited institutions of higher learning, state and local governmental agencies and federally recognized Native American tribal governments are eligible to receive NEH funds.)
  • Estimated annual audience
  • Record of strong humanities programming
  • Organization size
  • Demonstrated need for and potential impact of American Rescue Plan Act funds.

Not Eligible

  • Individuals
  • Public libraries
  • For-profit organizations
  • Organizations focused solely on the arts
  • Political or advocacy organizations
  • Universities, colleges, individual faculty members, and academic departments(However, museums, archives, university presses and public-facing humanities centers affiliated with a college or university may apply for the Oklahoma ARP

Organizations with a strong arts focus are encouraged to contact the Oklahoma State Arts Council for grants provided through the National Endowment for the Arts.  Public libraries are encouraged to contact the State Department of Libraries for more details.

NOTE: Programmatic expenses are not eligible under the Oklahoma ARP Grant funding opportunity.  Applicants interested in pursuing programmatic grants should apply under our standard grants programs.
