Summer 2013 COMMON GOOD
If there’s one thing we can agree to disagree on, it’s “the common good.” From healthcare to national defense, affirmative action to income tax rates, we’re passionate about what we believe is in the best interests of all. As Americans we are discordantly divisive and stridently stubborn. How, then, have we sustained this great experiment in democracy so well for so long? What is it that drives us to our distinctly American individualism, yet compels us to cooperate for the benefit of our fellow man?
